Overview of the model and evolution

The Pluralist Commonwealth model has been clarified and amplified since the initial draft formulation was first proposed in 1972. The following suggest some of the refinements in the over-arching design. The “Elements” section of this webpage provides greater detail on various components, and also suggests the direction further and ongoing work to refine the model is currently taking.
"Notes Towards a Pluralist Commonwealth," 1972
"Toward a Tough-Minded Populism," 1986
"Socialism Based In Community," 1991
"Building a Living Democracy," 1990
Chapter 6 of America Beyond Capitalism, 2005
Chapter 23 and Afterword of What Then Must We Do?, 2013
"The Possibility of a Pluralist Commonwealth," 2013
